The London School of Beauty and Makeup!

So last Tuesday I made use of my frees at school and wandered up to London to pay a visit to the lovely team at The London School of Beauty and Makeup.

I'm going to raise my hand and admit that I got somewhat horrifically lost. Which is embarrassing because the school is barely five minutes away from the tube station. When I eventually made it I got to sit in the beautiful salon and was greeted by the head of the school! She was lovely and escorted me to a room with one of the teachers.

I got to pick her brain about the course I'm looking at and also talk to a past student who is now a successful freelance artist.

The school is absolutely stunning and everyone in it are so lovely! I got to poke my head in to the make-up studio during a lesson and all the students smiled at me and chatted to me while they were working on each other. I completely fell in love with the atmosphere and I just want to start a course there as soon as I can!

To anyone looking at the school, the building is just as good and professional as the website looks. I know that's what I was worried about. The classroom in which they teach makeup is bright and modern and smells clean and fresh. Predictably, it was full to the brim of top make-up brands and they had cool music playing over the sound system while the students finished their assignments.

All in all, it was such a good day out!

Crown Brush - Warehouse Open Day!

Just when I was feeling liking I needed some new brushes, I got an email from the lovely team at Crown Brush to say they were having a one day open warehouse event! I made plans to go about three weeks ago, and today the day finally happened. I had work at 11am, so my friend and I were up bright and early to drive the hour long drive to surrey and visit Crown Brush HQ!

After getting briefly lost in the business park (and completely missing the giant Crown Brush sign) we wandered into the warehouse with exactly fifteen minutes of time armed with 20% off before we had to start the journey back.

The team at Crown Brush were lovely and extremely helpful, and the sheer amount of brushes was astounding. For anyone who doesn't know of Crown Brush, they are a reliable brush manufacturer whose brushes are long lasting and soft.

Regrettably, in the short space of time I only managed to get four brushes. But I was astounded at the quality of them, and am now much happier to order online and be confident in what I am receiving. I have ordered many a brush from them before, and I love them all, but often when they come they aren't exactly what I was looking for. This is not to say I didn't add them to my kit and find them useful, it's just some kinds of brushes are difficult to buy online. For example, I was looking for a nice new big fluffy brush for smoking out colours in the crease, ordered one that looked the part and when it came it was no way near big nor dense enough.

I also got some new bog standard disposables and a bottle of brush cleaner - which upon use smells strangely like rum...

I'll be posting reviews of these brushes when I can (notice the sigma F80 dupe?). Here's to hoping Crown Brush open their doors for us again!
